For 7 out of 10 people, the way you walk (or their gait) can eventually cause you pain in your feet, ankles, knees, hips, back or neck if left incorrected. Take this simple test:
- Do you stand or walk on hard surfaces for long periods of time?
- Do you participate regularly in any physical activity including sports?
- Do you have any prior injuries to your knees, back or neck?
- Do you have obvious foot problems such as bunions, corns or flat feet?
If you checked any of the above, then contact us to assess you with the Metascan™ System.
At FYZICAL Therapy & Balance we use the Metascan™ System to show you what your gait looks like in a series of simple, colorful graphics. The Metascan captures the gait at 150 images per second, that’s more than 20 times faster than the human eye. This incredible speed allows Metascan to pinpoint how and at what point the foot is functioning abnormally as you walk. Each foot is assessed in depth with 19 aspects of gait analyzed.
WHY SHOULD I GET SCANNED?
Over time, an abnormal gait may lead to more serious issues. With the help of Metascan technology, we will provide you with a diagnosis and may prescribe individually crafted, custom Footmaxx orthotics to help you walk the walk.
WHY CUSTOM ORTHOTICS?
Carefully formed to address the unique challenges of your feet, Footmaxx custom orthotics give you the stability you need to reduce stress and strain on your feet and joints from the ground up. Unlike over-the-counter inserts, Footmaxx orthotics are clinician designed for your unique foot and health challenges with unique layers for optimum fit, maximum comfort and superior control. All this without added bulk or discomfort. For sportsmen and women, ask us about how Footmaxx orthotics can help with strength and athletic performance.
A bunion is a bony bump on the joint at the base of the big toe. Over-pronation (when the foot rolls inward excessively) can cause swelling and tenderness at this joint. As the bump gets bigger, it causes the big toe to turn in toward the second toe.
Proper shoes and custom orthotics help control over-pronation and eliminate further growth of the bunion. Footmaxx orthotics may help reduce pain in the mild bunion areas by allowing extra room underneath the big toe. This will help decrease irritation and reduce swelling.
Calluses are areas of dead, hardened skin. They form to protect the skin and structures underneath from pressure, friction and injury and may appear grayish, yellowish or bumpy. Calluses become a problem when they grow large enough to cause pain or impede proper foot function.
Calluses are accommodated by adding well cutouts or u-pads to your Footmaxx orthotics. The orthotic redistributes weight and reduces the friction and pressure that causes calluses.
Plantar fasciitis is the most common cause of heel pain. The plantar fascia is the flat band of tissue (ligament) that connects your heel bone to your toes, supporting the arch of your foot. If you strain your plantar fascia, it gets weak, swollen and irritated. Your heel or bottom of your foot hurts when you stand or walk and the pain is most often acute in the morning.
Footmaxx recommends an aggressive, more rigid orthotic to support the foot’s arch. This stops the plantar fascia from stretching during over-pronation. If the pain of plantar fasciitis is more concentrated in the heel, Footmaxx recommends a heel cushion.
Hammer toes bend or curl downward due to weakened muscles. While the deformity can affect any toe, hammer toes most frequently occur in the four smaller toes.
Hammer toes can be accommodated by adding a toe crest pad to your Footmaxx orthotics. The pad gently lifts and spreads the toes to relieve tension.
A neuroma is a chronic irritation of nerves, usually between the third and fourth metatarsal. Improper foot function is often to blame.
To help with neuromas, Footmaxx uses a bar shaped pad called a neuroma pad. The neuroma pad helps spread the problematic toe joints to relieve the pinched nerve.
Always on the cutting edge of orthotic technology, Footmaxx has developed an advanced scanning device, Metascan™, and milling and machinery to create the best possible orthotic for you. Footmaxx uses a CNC Smartjet robotic arm with a water jet nozzle to ensure exact cutting and trimming of each orthotic. At FYZICAL in Southington and Bristol we will provide you with a custom orthotic designed to fit your foot and your lifestyle. From MaxxLife, an orthotic for general activity to Queen Cobra, an orthotic for wearing with dress heels, we will help where it hurts and kick pain to the curb.
